Content and studio manager

Unagru is looking for a committed part-time content and studio manager to join its studio in London.

The studio manager ensures the practice’s smooth running and supports the team with administrative and financial tasks. Our beloved office manager, Gary, will return home but remain in charge of some key tasks and will be ready to train and hand over the newcomer. The ideal candidate will have a journalism, architecture or design background and a passion for innovation. They will be gritty, highly organised and proactive team players. They will also be passionate about communication and interested in social media, photo editing, videos etc. A great bonus would be having experience with bids and tenders.

We are a young practice based in East London with a varied background in urbanism, ecological design and architecture, and a growing portfolio of private residential, commercial and mixed-use schemes. We work hard to create beautiful architecture and to grow our agency through collaboration, activism and research. We are also a friendly, collaborative team sharing an office space, conversations and lunches with other like-minded architecture practices.

This is a part-time position for 20-24 hours per week, with the option of distributing the hours over three to five days a week. In time we hope this role will grow to become full-time.

Successful candidates will have:

  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • exceptional organisational and time management skills
  • strong team player and work ethic
  • highly proficient in Microsoft Office
  • working knowledge of Adobe Suite, in particular, InDesign and Photoshop
  • experience of the architecture/construction industry would be advantageous
  • experience with marketing/PR is preferred

Main duties and responsibilities:

General office administration:

  • assisting architects with written printing and drawing issues
  • booking travel scheduling
  • setting up project files, organising in-house filing system and image libraries
  • assisting with setting up project programmes
  • product research, maintaining and collating the sample library
  • ordering stationery and office supplies
  • produce fee proposals and contracts for clients
  • preparing fee proposals and explaining the scope of the architect’s services to clients
  • prepare bid and procurement documents
  • assisting with contractor’s pre-qualification questionnaires and undertaking due diligence

Financial administration:

  • monthly financial reporting using Streamtime and Xero
  • preparing and issuing invoices to clients
  • assisting accountants with payroll and VAT return
  • making payments to staff and suppliers
  • managing staff expenses staff administration and HR

Marketing and content management:

  • assisting with content production: develop rough drafts into full blog posts, newsletters, articles
  • assisting with the production of client guides and presentation material
  • managing the practice’s participation in events
  • appointing and scheduling of photographers
  • organising and assisting with CRM
  • dealing with project enquiries and setting up meetings with potential clients
  • either learn or appoint third parties for video content creation
  • assist with written text for award submissions
  • assisting architects with written descriptions
  • to liaise with the press and prepare and issue press packs in partnership with our marketing consultant
