Matthews Rea Interiors is seeking a mid-weight interior designer/interior architect to join its team in Surrey, UK.
An exciting opening is now available for an experienced mid-weight interior designer/interior architect to join our team of highly talented professionals. This position is based in our Cobham, Surrey studio and primarily involves working on high-end residential projects in Surrey, Hampshire and Central London. For an enthusiastic and driven individual, this is a fantastic opportunity to become a key member of our team at Matthews Rea Interiors, during a very exciting phase of our growth.
The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in luxury residential projects and be comfortable working within a small team. They should be highly creative and possess a thorough understanding of both technical and FF&E projects.
A Bachelor’s degree in interior design or interior architecture is essential for this position, along with at least three years of experience in the UK’s interior design industry, working on high-end residential projects. An excellent understanding of space planning and technical detailing is required, along with the ability to handle multiple projects concurrently. The ideal candidate must also possess a creative flair and be able to devise imaginative FF&E solutions, regardless of budget constraints or time deadlines.
Exceptional attention to detail is a must-have trait and the candidate must have experience of working onsite and collaborating closely with contractors to ensure the accurate execution of design, maintaining the highest standards of quality.
Role responsibilities:
- familiar with all stages of interior architecture, including technical package production, specifications, elevations, bespoke furniture design and joinery
- work across multiple projects simultaneously with ease and proficiency
- take the lead on smaller projects
- create detailed presentation pages and schedules that reflect a high level of quality
- communicate with clients throughout the project to ensure their needs and expectations are met, alongside a senior designer
- take minutes during meetings and diligently managing follow-ups both internally and externally
Skills and qualifications:
- three years relevant professional experience in the UK
- 3D CAD/SketchUp is desirable but not essential
- proven to be proficient in AutoCAD with the ability to produce all interior architectural drawings at a high level of detail and accuracy
- excellent computer skills, including knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and EstiMac, Microsoft Word and Excel
- extensive proficiency in handling projects single-handedly and in collaboration with a team from concept through to completion
- must have excellent client facing skills
- ability to manage and prioritise multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- excellent communication and written skills
- wide supplier knowledge would be preferable
- strong attention to detail
- highly organised and disciplined
- Mac proficiency desirable
- car driver preferred
