London, UK
Senior/project architect
at Holt Architecture
Holt Architecture is looking for a senior or project-leading architect to join its team in London.
We’re a RIBA Chartered practice working at the intersection of heritage, sustainability, and contemporary design. Our projects range from inventive office retrofits to careful interventions in listed buildings, often combining advanced digital processes with an intuitive feel for context and materiality.
This is a key role for an experienced architect who enjoys taking ownership of projects and shaping them from early concepts through to delivery. You’ll have the chance to lead complex and often sensitive schemes, working closely with clients, consultants, and contractors to deliver architecture that is thoughtful, rigorous, and environmentally responsible.
What you’ll be doing:
- leading architectural projects at all stages – particularly technical design and delivery – with oversight from the practice director
- developing design proposals that respond intelligently to existing buildings, planning policy, and sustainability goals
- coordinating and managing input from consultants, fabricators, and specialist contractors
- acting as the main point of contact for clients, with responsibility for programme, scope, and quality
- supporting the wider studio by contributing to design reviews, QA processes, and mentoring junior team members
What we’re looking for:
- ARB-registered architect with at least three years’ post-Part III experience
- strong design sensibility with excellent technical and construction knowledge
- confident using Revit and Adobe Creative Suite; experience with BIM360 and NBS Chorus a plus
- comfortable running meetings and coordinating teams independently
- good knowledge of UK planning and building regs; familiarity with BREEAM or retrofit-first approaches would be an advantage
- a clear interest in re-use, sustainability, and working with historic fabric
Our approach
We work closely as a team, sharing ideas and sketchbooks across the office. We value critical thinking, curiosity, and a willingness to test ideas. Our process is collaborative and reflective, and we are selective about the work we take on. The aim is to produce architecture that stands up to scrutiny – culturally, environmentally, and technically.
What we offer:
- competitive salary based on experience
- hybrid working with flexible hours
- a flat studio structure with opportunities to grow, shape projects, and influence the direction of the practice
- regular CPD, training, and support with professional development
