Design team leader
Kinnarps is looking for a design team leader to join its busy London-based practice.
Main purpose of role:
As design team leader for the UK, you will be responsible for the provision of creative services to a broad mix of clients across the private, public and third sectors. Your team will be a key component in supporting our clients through the design and delivery of amazing workspaces which enhance the prosperity of their business and culture.

Accountabilities:
- to consult with clients and sales colleagues to guide the creative progression of projects. This work will range from space planning, to full interior design and specification including pitching and tenders support
- work load traffic-lighting between the design team and sales colleagues
- participating in day-to-day deliverables and team workloads – to work as a designer within the team
- provide creative and workflow guidance to team members to ensure a smooth consistent and quality controlled delivery or project work
- manage the integration of new technologies, software and skills into the team
- investigate and implement ways to develop the teams outputs and maintain the relevance of the teams work through industry benchmarking
- you will be responsible for adopting and delivering Kinnarps’ own workspace consultation method – Next Office Concept TM. This aspect of the role may require European travel from time to time
- liaise with international colleagues in progressing creative standards within the group. This aspect of the role may require European travel from time to time
- to conduct performance reviews within the team and support with objective setting and KPI’s
- once established in the role, you will be expected to speak at seminars and conferences, and act as Kinnarps’ though leader in progressive workspace design strategy and all things workspace!
- you will be responsible for designing and project managing developments to Kinnarps’ own workspaces and showrooms

Selection criteria
Work experience:
- you will have strong spatial, visual design and communication skills
- A thorough understanding of contemporary working practices such as activity based working
- you will have a thorough working knowledge of workspace interiors industry and ideally the commercial fit-out sector
- experience in change management
- you will be passionate about design and will be responsible for nurturing a positive can-do approach within the team
Skills:
- you will be expected to develop the specialist skill set within team and drive standards forward
- excellent listening and interpretation of brief skills with the ability to take a brief and understand needs
- excellent team leadership skills
- the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team successfully with the ability to lead
- proficient in Autocad and office planning, Specific experience in SketchUp and MS Office applications – including presentations, as well as ability to quickly learn the in-house planning tool – configura
- proficient in other Adobe software or similar including In Design, Photoshop
- working knowledge of BIM and related software such as Revit
- time management and work prioritisation
- good administration skills

Qualifications:
- degree or other relevant education within interiors, product or furniture design. Or qualified by experience
