London, UK
Part 3 project architect
at Finkernagel Ross

Finkernagel Ross is seeking a Part 3 project architect to join its team in London.

Finkernagel Ross is seeking a considered, capable project architect with five or more years’ post-Part III experience to join its London studio.

We are an international architecture and interiors practice with studios in London and Hamburg, designing private homes and boutique hospitality spaces across the UK and Europe. Our work spans new-build homes, sensitive renovations and historic buildings.

Architecture, interior architecture and interior design develop together from the outset. Clear spatial thinking, inventive ideas and carefully resolved materials create places that endure, shaped around how people live and experience their surroundings.

About the role

Working closely with senior project leaders and directors, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day leadership and delivery of projects, maintaining continuity from initial concept through construction and completion.

You will bring design ambition, technical rigour and professional judgement to projects, working alongside our interiors team and external consultants to maintain a coherent design approach.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • leading design development and translating concepts into coordinated, buildable proposals
  • planning programmes, anticipating information requirements and managing team workloads
  • preparing and overseeing Archicad models, drawing packages, specifications and project documentation
  • coordinating consultants and integrating structural, services and specialist information
  • leading client presentations and maintaining clear, regular communication
  • liaising with contractors, attending site meetings and resolving design and technical queries
  • managing and mentoring junior colleagues through clear direction, constructive feedback and careful review

About you

You will have:

  • a Part 3 qualification and current ARB registration, with at least five years’ post-Part 3 experience. Exceptional candidates with equivalent professional experience who are not yet ARB registered will also be considered
  • experience leading at least two high-end, bespoke private residential projects from concept to completion
  • extensive experience working directly with high-net-worth residential clients
  • excellent design sensibility, technical knowledge and detailing skills
  • experience preparing NBS specifications, administering building contracts and managing projects on site
  • a strong understanding of UK planning, Building Regulations and construction
  • advanced knowledge and at least two years’ recent, substantial experience using Archicad, SketchUp, Enscape and Adobe Creative Suite
  • strong communication, organisation and leadership skills, with confidence working independently and supporting a team
  • hospitality, historic building, Passivhaus or EnerPHit experience would be advantageous
  • German-language skills and experience in Germany are welcome but not essential
