March and White Design is seeking a junior interior designer to join its team in Los Angeles.
International luxury design house March & White LLC is recruiting for a highly creative, innovative, motivated, committed, all-around solid junior interior designer to join our LA and NY Studio. The successful person will work on exclusive and luxury residential, hospitality and commercial projects. Candidates need to be able to work in an office that has a casual corporate culture with a collaborative team approach.
Education and experience
You must have a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA), a BFA in Interior Design, BSc in Interior Design, Bachelor of Architecture or similar, with one to three years’ post-graduate experience or internship.
Role outline
As a junior designer, you will be supporting a team of skilled designers and architects, all of whom are led by a senior designer. You are expected to be ‘hands-on’ in your approach whilst using your initiative to complete tasks with a calm natured response.
Required skills:
- self-motivated but also a good team member who is able to work quickly and efficiently in an organised manner
- ability to create and develop conceptual designs including the ability to use color and texture
- knowledge of PhotoShop, InDesign, AutoCAD, and Sketchup
- understanding of FF&E selection (materials, finishes, detailing and scheduling)
- self-confident and receptive to constructive feedback and criticism of your work
- the skill to visualize concepts and explain them to others
- excellent communication skills including verbal, written and visual
- exceptional attention to detail
- desire to learn and expand design and industry knowledge
Responsibilities:
- working accurately to a written or verbal brief
- developing detailed designs and choosing materials
- producing sketches and mood boards
- update the key suppliers’ spreadsheet with supplier details
- arrange samples/new collections
- organise supplier meetings, research new products and maintain the sample library
- research materials and finishes and relevant detailing
- schedule information accurately and efficiently
- work with design team to produce schematic design presentations through imagery, materials, FF&E and color elevations
- work with drawing team to produce CAD drawings
Goals and targets:
- to constantly develop knowledge and skills relevant or applicable to your role
- to demonstrate initiative and taking responsibility on projects where applicable
- to learn a new skillset with March & White above your current level (i.e. sketch-up/AutoCAD, FF&E, etc)
- to develop your own network in the industry under the March & White umbrella (introducing new suppliers and contractors)
