Production coordinator

David Gill Gallery is seeking a highly motivated production coordinator with technical knowledge of furniture construction, materials and production methods to join its studio in London.

Duties include:

  • plan and draw up a production schedule, monitor the production processes, set and control the quality standards
  • carrying out condition checks and quality control of completed products that are ready for final sign off
  • interpreting artists/designers sketches and drawings and produce technical drawings for suppliers, using Rhino
  • preparing and shipping samples, organising international and domestic transport and delivery of furniture and sculpture
  • liaise with different departments, teams and companies, e.g. internal managers, artists and suppliers
  • management of the materials, measurements and weights of both products and packing
  • provide overall admin support to production studio including but not limited to management of manufacturers information, care instructions and samples library
  • you will also be overseeing the gallery’s installations and maintenance. Conducting daily walkthroughs to ensure that the space is clean, tidy and working
  • the role will require regular visits to our warehouse and there will be occasional manual handing and lifting work so a need to be physically able to take on this aspect of the role

Person/experience required:

  • ability to interpret sketches and drawings
  • ability to multitask and project manage the production of luxury, bespoke and limited ranges of sculptural/artistic furniture and products
  • strong planning and organisation skills to schedule your own work to meet the team’s goals
  • computer literate ideally with experience in 2D and 3D CAD skills, we use Rhino and Adobe Creative software
  • strong attention to detail to ensure high levels of quality
  • excellent communication, interpersonal and team working skills
  • knowledge of handling a variety of materials such as bronze, wood, stainless steel, resin
  • a knowledge of other languages would be desirable (French, Italian)
