Stephanie Barba Mendoza (SBM) is seeking a full-time mid-weight designer to join its team in London.
In this position, you will support the design team responsible for multiple projects simultaneously from initial concept through to development, coordination, documentation, and on-site execution.
You will be part of a small and growing team of designers working under the direction of a senior designer and the creative director. In this position, you will have the opportunity to be part of exceptional projects in the high-end commercial, hospitality and residential design sectors.
Role description:
- supporting the design team in creating designs and delivering presentations based on the project(s) deliverables
- design tasks may include, but not be limited to developing designs, 3D modelling, elevation renderings, mood board creation, CAD drawings, image research, materials, and furniture sourcing. Under the supervision of a senior designer, assist in the creation of quality timely sets of drawings and specifications
- assisting in providing SBM’s construction document packages including drawings and specifications
- attending key internal and external design meetings; typing and issuing meeting notes
- setting up and maintaining project files and folders in accordance with SBM standards
Required skills and experience:
- three to four years’ post-graduate design experience with significant exposure to high-end, conceptually driven interior design
- professional qualification of interior design
- demonstrated conceptual approach to design
- experience building, nurturing, and fostering client and supplier relationships
- excellent teamwork skills
- excellent organizational skills with a strong attention to detail
- strong communication skills
- excellent software skills such as Photoshop, InDesign and Sketchup to produce design concept presentations
- 3D skills (SketchUp/hand sketches) and the ability to study spatial design
- excellent 2D drawing skills (AutoCAD)
- excellent Microsoft Office skills and ability to set up and maintain schedules and specifications sheets
- good knowledge of FF&E, Fabrics, materials and suppliers
- experience in custom furniture design desirable
- knowledge of European and American supplier market desirable
- experience in procurement will be beneficial
- British citizen or appropriate working permit essential
